Tallinn

One of the most surprising things about Tallinn was the size and condition of its medieval city. Time—it seems—has been incredibly kind to this place, allowing both the upper and lower towns to retain much of their historical charm. Walking through Tallinn often felt like stepping onto the set of a medieval movie.

I’ve often come across the Countryballs meme about Estonia’s desire to be considered a Nordic country. While my knowledge of Estonia is too limited to contribute a definitive argument to this discussion, my first encounter with its architecture did shed some interesting light on the debate.
