A Digital Nomad’s Journal

The first ever book by Oskar Halidar Skowronek
about Polaroid photography, digital nomadism
and travel adventures is finally here!

A Digital Nomad's Journal' is a passion project that encapsulates more than five years of my fascinating digital nomad journey across the world.

Embark on a visual adventure featuring more than 200 Polaroid images and stories from 20 unique locations across Europe, Asia, and Africa — places I’ve had the privilege of calling home, many of which have never been shared with the wider audience before.

This book is more than just a collection of photographs; it’s an invitation into the personal realm of my nomadic life. Through the commentaries, anecdotes, and reflections, I want to show you the places, events, and experiences that have influenced my journey, and shaped who I am today.

Let this journal transport you into a world of discovery, connection, and wonder. Whether you're a seasoned traveler or an armchair explorer, I hope you'll find inspiration in the stories and visuals that brought my journey to life.

Booko Studio joins the project!

As of July 2024, I am excited to announce that Booko Studio, led by the incredibly creative Dmitry Buko, has joined the team as the executive book designer. Booko Studio is known for its exceptional work on projects such as “Pralinarium,” “KUT,” and the incredibly wholesome “ABC for Multilinguals.” I am thrilled to collaborate with them to bring this book to life.

What a strange long ride it was!

Being a digital nomad is full of both fun and challenges, and the process of creating this book was no different. It began with five years of travel, spanning various countries and facing many uncertainties — including the global disruption of the COVID pandemic.

From sifting through my messy travel notes and countless reflections, trying to shape them into cohesive and engaging stories, each step was a labor of love. A huge thanks goes to my talented designer Dmitry, who helped me translate the essence of my experiences into visuals and together, we created a layout that not only complements the Polaroid photography but also conveys my personal character.

Every part of this process taught me invaluable lessons and deepened my appreciation for the energy, creativity, and love that others contributed to the project. But perhaps most surprisingly, it allowed me to rediscover an appreciation for my own work — a reflection of both the adventures and inner growth that these years have brought.

And now, after all that, I’m excited to present you with the final product.
